June is cancer survivor month. Being a cancer survivor starts the day you are diagnosed, not when you have finished treatments or are declared free of cancer.

Just as the sun is starting to heat up, May is melanoma and skin cancer awareness month. While these are all skin cancers, melanoma has a much different presentation and treatment than the more common and less deadly basal and squamous cell carcinoma.

April is head and neck cancer awareness month and is symbolized by a burgundy and white ribbon.
