Savoy Medical Center was founded in 1950 by Dr. Frank Savoy, Sr., and his son, Dr. Frank Savoy, Jr. Encompassing over 200,000 square feet, SMC is a 60-bed general acute care hospital, including 6 beds designated for intensive care and 5 beds for inpatient physical rehabilitation.
Our SMC family provides healing services to an average of 2,200 outpatients with 600 emergency department visits per month. There are five rural healthcare clinics located within a 30-mile radius of SMC that serve our community. On the campus at SMC is New Horizons, a 27-bed distinct inpatient emotional and behavioral health facility and an intensive outpatient psychiatric unit accepting patients 21 and above. Nearby is Beyond the Horizons, our 28-day residential substance abuse program with 24 beds accepting patients ages 18 and older.

Serving Our Community
Patients can now receive all of their cancer care right here at home with Savoy Cancer Center’s full-time oncologist at clinics in Mamou and Ville Platte. Our clinics allow the Cancer Center to provide patients with Chemotherapy, Radiation and other Outpatient Infusions close to home without having to travel to receive the quality care they need.
In 2015, CHRISTUS Health Central Louisiana assumed management operations of the hospital. SMC is licensed by the Department of Health and Hospitals of the State of Louisiana. It is accredited by the Joint Commission and is certified to participate in the Medicare (Title XVIII) and Medicaid (Title XIX) reimbursement programs.
Serving our communities with a combined population of approximately 75,000, SMC is the leading provider of health care technology and resources in south-central Louisiana. As we serve the growing needs of our area, we will continue to offer the very best medical technology and services in a family-like atmosphere.
